HOLD MY BEER. Vessels for brewing and drinking beer have been found throughout ancient southwestern Asia, including Israel and Judah. For example, a red-slipped beer jug from Beth Shemesh in ancient Judah has a built-in strainer. It dates to the Iron Age II (c. 1000-586 B.C.E.).
