WINE AND DINE. Used to hold wine, grain, and other materials, large storage jars—or amphorae—have been found throughout ancient Israel and Judah. The above jars come from the site of Khirbet Qeiyafa in ancient Judah and date to the tenth century B.C.E. Some bear fingerprints on their handles, which served as an administrative marker in the early days of the Kingdom of Judah.
