SACRED SEPULCHRE. The focal point of the Christian Quarter in Jerusalem’s Old City, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is a large complex. Its superstructure measures c. 295 feet (90 m) across, from east to west, and c. 295 feet (90 m), from north to south. The subterranean chapels add another 78 feet (24 m) to the length. Its highest point, the top of the rotunda, rises c. 112 feet (34 m) tall. The total area of the CHS complex is roughly 1.25 acres or 54,000 square feet (5,000 sq m).
