THE ORIGINAL EXCAVATORS. A cave at ‘Einot Amitai in northern Israel used to be a quarry and industrial workshop for chalkstone vessels. With the cave roof recently removed, this aerial view shows traces of intensive quarrying activities from the Roman period.
