HASTE MAKES WASTERS. Chalkstone vessels in various stages of production were discovered during the archaeological exploration at ‘Einot Amitai, near Nazareth. This lathe-turned bowl had broken during the manufacturing process, resulting in a “waster,” and had been left behind. The site attests to a thriving stone vessel industry, which was apparently fueled by religious concerns for Jewish ritual purity.
