THE KING’S NEW CLOTHES. This wooden carving shows King Irkab-damu of Ebla (r. 2340 B.C.) dressed in a turban (tùg-ZI.ZI) and a cloak (’à-da-um-TùG) decorated with five rows of woolen tufts (kaunakes). The cloak leaves his right shoulder uncovered. In his left hand, the king holds an axe.
