SILVER SHEKEL. Minted in Jerusalem, this silver shekel coin from the First Jewish Revolt against Rome dates to 68–69 C.E. This side depicts three pomegranates and reads, “Jerusalem the holy.” With a diameter of nearly an inch, this shekel weighs about half an ounce.
