SAMARITAN SCRIPT. This partially restored inscription from Mt. Gerizim in northern Israel dates to the Middle Ages (c. 1099–1291) and exhibits the Samaritan script. With ornamental and cursive elements, the Samaritan script was derived from the Old Hebrew script. The inscription contains expressions from Deuteronomy, notably part of the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4). This inscription appears in the Good Samaritan Inn Museum, located halfway between Jerusalem and Jericho.
