ABRAHAM’S WELL? The Bir el-Haj Khalil well preserves an Arabic form of Abraham, Khalil, in its name. The well, directly south of the Church of the Glorious Martyr, dates to the Byzantine period. It may have been constructed as a secondary attraction at the popular pilgrimage site and even had its own mosaic-covered reservoir and collection pool.
