METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART, ROGERS FUND, 1934; ACC. NO. 34.1.17

NAMED AFTER THE SITE OF TELL EL-YAHUDIAH in the Nile Delta, these characteristic ceramic juglets, featuring punctate design on a blackened surface, originated in Canaan. Popular and widely distributed throughout the eastern Mediterranean, they were eventually also made locally. This example dates from the 13th Dynasty and stands 6 inches tall. The neck and handle have been restored.
