SHAPIRA SCROLL. Now lost, the Shapira Scrolls have been preserved in drawings, transcriptions, and illegible photographs. To publicize the discovery, the above drawing appeared in several publications, including Scientific American on October 27, 1883. The drawing hints at the ancient Hebrew writing on the scrolls and also illustrates where the scrolls were reportedly found.
