ANTIQUE JERUSALEM. Moses Shapira opened an antiquities shop on Christian Street in Jerusalem. Numerous wares passed through his store to museums and collections around the world. This portrait of Shapira dates to c. 1880, around the time that the Deuteronomy manuscript came into his possession.
