ANCIENT STRUCTURES LIKE PYRAMIDS never cease to impress and inspire. Rising 80 feet above the surrounding plaza, the Pyramid of Kukulcan—also known as the Castle—was built sometime between the eighth–12th centuries C.E., at the height of the Mayan-Toltec culture. It is one of several impressive Mayan ruins found at the site of Chichen Itza in the Mexican state of Yucatán, which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
