THE CHURCH OF AMOS AND KASISEUS at Khirbat alMukhayyat is named for two presumed benefactors who are mentioned in an inscription found at the site. Located within the site’s Byzantine village, the church likely functioned as the main place of worship for the local community. The church’s northern side chapel, known as the Chapel of the Priest John, included this touching mosaic portrait of a local woman who may have been a church member and patron.
