MAKER OF THE GATES. Nicanor’s ossuary, found within his tomb complex on Mt. Scopus, has been moved to the British Museum. It bears a bilingual inscription. The first three lines, written in Greek, say, “The ossuary of Nicanor of Alexandria, who made the gates.” The smaller fourth line of Aramaic writing says, “Nicanor the Alexandrian.”
