The Hazor bull. Strikingly similar to the figurine found near Dothan in Samaria (see cover), this bronze bull from Hazor dates to the 14th century B.C.E.—making it a clearly Canaanite object. In the Canaanite pantheon the chief god was called El, and his principal epithet was “Bull El.”
