Among the most beautiful of all the psalms are those that express individual thanksgiving. In Psalm 138, King David gives thanks to God for answering his call and inspiring him with courage and concludes:

“… High though the Lord is,

He sees the lowly;

lofty, He perceives from afar.

Though I walk among

enemies,

You perceive me in the face

of my foes; You extend your hand;

with Your right hand You deliver me.”

(Psalm 138:6–7)
