Jerome T. Walsh is professor of biblical studies St. John’s Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. Walsh published an article on Genesis 2–3 in 1977, several years after extensive feminist interpretations of these Genesis chapters had been published, but he fails to mention any feminist study in his article. In fact, he perpetuates the patriarchal view. “The man is the highest of creatures [in the Genesis story],” says Walsh, “with the woman closely associated but subordinated to him.”
