A geological youngster—only half a million years old—the Carmel already shows the ravages of time in this rock formation, sculpted over the ages by water flowing through the Nahal Kelakh. This spot lies in an especially picturesque part of the Carmel known as “little Switzerland,” which was extensively damaged by arsonists on September 19, 1989.
