The eastern and western valleys—the Kidron and the Hinnom—remain clearly visible in this contemporary, aerial photo (compare with previous photo). The Tyropoeon Valley is now much filled with accumulated debris. In ancient times it was deeper, and it extended into the northern part of the Old City. The Old City and its enclosing wall occupy the center of the photo. At right center, two long, parallel shadows— extending to the right from the southern wall of the Old City—trace the routes of the Tyropoeon and Kidron valleys. The Hinnom Valley, from its junction with the Kidron Valley, at the center right edge of the photo, curves across the lower center of the photo.
