Home of the Abisha Scroll. The town of Nablus, near the site of ancient Shechem, sprawls at the foot of the twin peaks of Mt. Gerizim and Mt. Ebal, left and right respectively, in this aerial view from the east (shown here, compare with lithograph). Mt. Gerizim and Mt. Ebal were the places Moses designated for the pronouncement of the blessings and the curses, the consequences of obeying or transgressing the Lord’s commandments (Deuteronomy 11:26–29, 27:11–26).
