At the sixth station (shown here, compare with previous photo), a Samaritan pilgrim stands in the trough-shaped rock formation where the Samaritans believe Abraham offered to sacrifice his son Isaac (Genesis 22:1–19). The traditional altar receives a reverent kiss and caress from every visiting pilgrim.
