M. Robert Markovich

The title page of the Roberts Bible depicts the great mound at Nimroud. When it was first discovered, in the mid-19th century, Nimroud was believed to have been the site of Nineveh, the city to which the prophet Jonah reluctantly preached repentance. Nimroud is today identified as biblical Calah; Nineveh is about 18.5 miles to the northwest.
