Finishing the first leg of its journey, the 25 miles from its sources, the Jordan River pours into the Sea of Galilee. Fed by runoff from the snow-covered Mt. Hermon, upper center, the upper Jordan plunges 900 feet in ten miles through a narrow gorge before becoming the placid river seen here.
