Tobias heals his father’s blindness with a paste made from the gall of the magic fish. The Italian artist, Bernardo Strozzi (1581–1644), depicts a redheaded, winged angel Raphael, while Tobit’s wife Anna anxiously watches the procedure, accompanied by the attentive dog, lower left. Domestic peace, shattered when Tobit’s blindness forced Anna to work outside her home, is restored by Tobit’s return to healthy.
