The crucifixion of Jesus is telescoped in time to show several scenes at once (Mark 15:21–41). Stripped of his garment, Jesus refuses an offer of wine mixed with myrrh, lower right. Nailed to the cross [251], he is crucified between two thieves [252] while overhead the sun grows dark. Finally, his mother, Mary, holds his body, lower left.
