The upper reaches of the left wall of the nave at Sant’Apollinare Nuovo are decorated with miracle scenes, including the the healing of the paralytic from Capernaum. The paralytic was brought into the house where Jesus was staying through a hole in the roof because the crowds made it impossible to get to the door (Mark 2:1–12; Luke 5:17–26).
