From child to man. In 1937 a very young John Crossan posed with his mother and sister for this family snapshot showing off their car. Fourteen years later Crossan found himself posing again—this time on the deck of the famous Queen Mary, en route to New York, where he would study for the priesthood (Crossan is at right in the photo, opposite). His adventurous spirit enlivened his childhood, led him to the priesthood and characterizes his bold (some would say brazen) work as a scholar.
