Two haloed apostles (shown here) preach in vain to the personification of Synagogue, who bears a scroll inscribed “spernit legem” (spurns the law). The Jewish rejection of the church is further illustrated by the outer figures in the roundel: A priest elevates the Host at left while two Jewish figures (right) instead make a calf offering and engage in kosher slaughtering.
