Seventeen of Rembrandt’s luminous religious portraits are currently on view together for the first time ever. The paintings will be at the National Gallery, in Washington, D.C., through May 1, 2005. The exhibit will then travel to the J. Paul Getty Museum, in Los Angeles, to be shown from June 7 through August 28.

The exhibit is accompanied by a stunning catalogue, Rembrandt’s Late Religious Portraits, by curator Arthur K. Wheelock, Jr., et al. (Washington, DC: National Gallery of Art; Chicago: Univ. of Chicago Press, 2004), $40 (hardback).
