Happy is the man

1. a Who has walked not in the council of the wicked,

b nor stood in the way of sinners,

c nor sat in the seat of fools.

2. a Rather, in the Lord’s teaching [is] his delight,

b In his teaching he meditates day and night.

3. a He shall be like a tree planted by streams of water,

b that gives its fruit in season,

4. a Whose leaf does not wither

b and all it puts forth, prospers.

5. a Not so the wicked:

b rather are they like the chaff the wind blows.

6. a Thus the wicked will not stand up in judgment,

b nor sinners in the council of the righteous.

7. a For the Lord embraces the way of the righteous,

b But the way of the wicked is lost.
