The Lord’s Prayer

Passages found in both Luke and Matthew but not found in Mark are thought to come from the hypothetical Sayings Gospel known as Q.

When you pray, say:

Father,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Give us each day our daily bread;

and forgive us our sins,

for we ourselves forgive everyone who is

indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.

Luke 11:2–4

Pray then like this:

Our father who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

And forgive us our debts,

As we also have forgiven our debtors;

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.
