Getting There: Because of its isolated location, there is no public transportation to Chimtou. Visitors must drive or take a taxi from the nearby town of Jendouba. There are no hotels or restaurants at Chimtou, but Jendouba offers moderately priced accommodations. The 40-bedroom Hotel Simtthu is a popular tourist spot, with its own bar, café and restaurant (telephone 634043). The smaller, less bustling Hotel Atlas (telephone 632217) is a favorite with the German archaeologists working at Chimtou. The Chimtou Archaeological Museum (below) is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from October 1 to March 31 and from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily from April 1 to September 30.
