Getting There: Public transportation to Selinunte is awkward but possible. Trains from Palermo, Trápani or Marsala can get you to Castelvetrano, where about five buses depart for Selinunte each day. (Call 091/616–1806 in Palermo for rail information.) Four daily buses leave Agrigento for Castelvetrano, a 15-minute trip. (Call 091/617–5411 for details.) Selinunte is most easily accessible by car: From Agrigento, take Route 115 northwest into Castelvetrano and then follow signs to Selinunte. The archaeological park opens at 9 a.m. and closes an hour before sundown on most days.
