POTTERY POTPOURRI. The cultural hybridity of Khirbet al-Ra‘i is especially evident in the admixture of ceramic remains preserved there. In Area A, for instance, excavators discovered several foundation deposits like the assemblage shown above—reflective of a well-known Canaanite practice—but featuring a standard Canaanite lamp-and-bowl deposit (top left) alongside a locally made Philistine bell-shaped bowl (top right).
