STATUS MARKERS. Numerous seals and seal impressions excavated from Building 100 indicate that the building once housed an archive, likely associated with a wealthy individual or high-ranking official who lived or worked in the city. The completely preserved clay seal impression (bulla) reads “To Nethanmelek, the servant of the king.” It is possible the latter belonged to a Judahite official of the same name mentioned in 2 Kings 23:11.
