GEZER IN RUINS. In the mid- to late tenth century, Gezer saw another violent destruction. Together with the six-chambered gate and the casemate wall, the administrative building was completely ruined and buried under a thick layer of rubble. Concentrations of boulders filling some of the rooms are silent witnesses to this destructive event. Coinciding with the military campaign of Pharaoh Shoshenq I in the southern Levant c. 925 BCE, this destruction can almost certainly be attributed to him.
