Robert Alter

Robert Alter is the Class of 1937 Professor of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at the University of California at Berkeley of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at the University of California at Berkeley. He is a specialist in Hebrew literary style and his works include The Art of Biblical Narrative (Basic Books, 1981), Genesis: A New Translation with Commentary (Norton, 1997) and The David Story (Norton, 2000).
