Lawrence Mykytiuk (“50 Real People in the Bible”) is associate professor of library science and the history librarian at Purdue University. He holds a Ph.D. in Hebrew and Semitic Studies and is the author of the book Identifying Biblical Persons in Northwest Semitic Inscriptions of 1200–539 B.C.E.
Shlomit Weksler-Bdolah (“Hometown of the Maccabees”) is an archaeologist with the Israel Antiquities Authority who has been digging in Jerusalem since 1990. She codirected the Western Wall plaza excavation (see Shlomit Weksler-Bdolah, Alexander Onn, Shua Kisilevitz and Brigitte Ouahnouna, “Layers of Ancient Jerusalem,” BAR 38:01) and excavations at Khirbet Umm el-‘Umdan with coauthor Alexander Onn.
The late Alexander Onn (“Hometown of the Maccabees”) was an archaeologist with the Israel Antiquities Authority until his death in August 2012. With coauthor Shlomit Weksler-Bdolah, he codirected the Western Wall plaza excavation and excavations at Khirbet Umm el-‘Umdan.
Robert Littman (“With and Without Straw”) is chair of the Classics Department at the University of Hawaii. He is a member of the Codex Sinaiticus Curatorial Committee and president of the Archaeological Institute of America Hawaii Society. He has directed excavations at Tell Timai since 2007.
Marta Lorenzon (“With and Without Straw”) is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh and holds a M.A. in Near Eastern archaeology from the University of Florence and a certificate in historic preservation from Columbia University. She is a staff member of the Tell Timai Excavation and specializes in mudbrick architecture.
Jay Silverstein (“With and Without Straw”) holds a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. He is an adjunct professor of archaeology at the University of Hawaii and works for the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command. Jay has directed archaeological projects in Mexico and Guatemala and at battlefields around the world. He is codirector of excavations at Tell Timai.
