More than 70 artifacts unearthed in the luxurious resort villas of Stabiae will be touring the United States through 2007. The exhibit, titled In Stabiano: Exploring the Ancient Seaside Villas of the Roman Elite, was organized by the Superintendence of Archaeology of Pompeii and the Smithsonian Institution, together with the Restoring Ancient Stabiae (R.A.S.) Foundation.

Brightly colored frescoes (including the famous Flora shown on this issue’s cover), molded stucco decorations, marble urns and an entire frescoed triclinium from the Villa Carmiano will be exhibited for the first time outside Italy.

The following venues have been confirmed; more will be added in the near future. (For updates on the traveling exhibit, consult www.stabiae.org.)
