Manfred Bietak

Manfred Bietak is a Professor Emeritus of Egyptology at the University of Vienna and was the Director of the Austrian Archaeological Institute in Cairo from 1973-2009. He directed excavations at Tell el Dab’a/Avaris in the Nile Delta, and served as editor of Ägypten und Levante, an international journal for Egyptian archaeology.
